Wow It's Been a While!

Well, I don't know why, but I haven't blogged in forever! Maybe it's the fact that we had a crazy busy summer, I am working and have been doing lots of projects around the house! My camera broke so I have lots of before pictures of my projects but only a couple after pictures! I have to thank my friend Sheena for introducing me to spray paint and DIY projects! With her help I made a jewelry hanger using a frame from DI. I also painted two dressers and a shelf. I am working on painting a headboard and footboard for Parker and my cedar chest that I am going to use as a bench in the living room for some extra seating. We also got new bedding, so of course that meant a bedroom makeover! I changed our bedroom wall from red to green. I'm going to be using my phone for a camera for the next little while. The pics won't be great, but at least I'll have some pictures! I am hoping to get a camera for Christmas and am looking for any recommendations for a point and shoot. I've been looking at a Cannon Powershot SX130. In the meantime, here are a few pics that I do have!

This is the DI frame before I spray painted it

The frame came with this weird board in it. Sheena and I wrapped the fabric around it and stapled it in place.

Then we stapled the wire to the board and attached the cute hardware I found at Hobby Lobby!

Our bedroom wall before

And here it is after! Bryan is very sad the red is gone. I told him we will paint some red in his office!

Here's another one with the bed all put together. (It's not the best pic, it's from my phone) I am still trying to figure out the stencil technique I want to do on the wall and I think I'm going to cut out a saying in vinyl to put over the headboard.

This is the before pic of our dresser. I think almost everyone in my family has used this dresser at one point or another!

And the after! I found a basket that fits pretty well in the space where the drawer was missing.

This is Parker's dresser before. Bryan's Grandma gave us this dresser several years ago and I finally got around to painting it!

This isn't the best pic of the after. I painted it white and then antiqued it with stain. I am going to do the same thing to his bed. I had hardware that I bought way before we ever even thought about having kids and of course now I can't find it! I found some other hardware on clearance at Lowe's that I think I'm going to paint and then switch it out.

Here is another crappy picture! I got this shelf at Savers and it was UGLY! I wish I would have taken a before pic! It was painted with thick blue paint! After a good sanding with the power sander and some white spray paint it was looking much better! A little distressing with the sander and some brown ink along the edges and it looks beautiful! The picture doesn't do it justice!

We had a crazy summer! Preschool graduation, trips to the zoo, playgroup, my birthday, Orlando, girls camp, sports camp, visits from Gary and Bliss, I started working, a week long visit to Idaho, golfing, cousins camp, bike rides, barbeques, picnics, camping in the backyard, rescuing an injured bird, St. George, a visit with Parker's birthfather and Thanksgiving Point. Now we are getting ready for Halloween and Parker's FIFTH birthday party! I can't even believe we are going to have a five year old in a few weeks! Crap! I better ask for my camera early so I can take pictures on the big day! (Hint, hint Bryan) Here are a few pictures of our summer activities!

Parker got a gigantic bear from his birthdad (Thanks BJ!) P named him Stumpy!

Preschool graduation

My birthday: new hairdo (thanks Sheena!) Kung Fu Panda with some of our adoption friends, a new bag from Bryan and flowers from my brother!

Orlando was amazing! The Hogwarts Express at Islands of Adventure!

A trip to the driving range

Playgroup at Murray Park

Fireworks with friends 4th of July

Cousins

He got his own basketball the last day of sports camp

He loves camping in the backyard

It's looking like Bryan and I will be taking a trip to Australia in April! I have to figure out what we need to do to get our passports. I am a little nervous, but excited too! I've never been out of the country! Not even to Canada or Mexico! It will be an adventure! Sorry for such a long post! Just to recap: any advice on a good point and shoot camera would be great and if you know where I start and what I need to get our passports, let me know! There will soon be more project updates as well as updates about all the other stuff going on around here!
