Funny Things Parker Says

The other day we were driving to play group and this guy was talking on his cell phone and started wandering into my lane. I said, "Stay in your own lane!" and honked at him. Parker said, "Mommy, you need to calm down."

He tells me that I am driving him crazy.

"What have you done?!"

"If you say so!"

Whenever I come home, no matter where I was he asks, "How was your meeting?" My new calling requires a lot of meetings!

Whenever Bryan comes home he says, "How was your day Daddy?" He also asks me this question even if we've spent the whole day together.

After feeling Bryan's face, "Daddy gots to shave!"

This is a conversation Parker and I had in the car today:
P-"Mommy, can my balloon go up to space?"
M-"Yes, but you won't be able to get it back."
P-"Can an airplane take us up to space?"
M-"No, airplanes go in the sky, space ships go to outer space."
P-"Do we have a space ship?"
M-"No, to go in a space ship you have to be an astronaut."
P-"Can we get a space ship, please?"
He makes me laugh more and more everyday with the things he comes up with!

Parker's First Soccer Game!

That's right! I am officially a soccer mom! Saturday was Parker's first soccer game. We should have know what we were in for when he freaked out getting dressed. He refused to wear his shin guards and didn't want to wear his soccer socks either. The smallest size they had left was a youth small and it absolutely drowns him! We got there early to warm up and practice with his coach. He did really well with that part. Then there was some confusion about what field we were supposed to be on. After switching fields and finding out we had to go to another one he said, "Are we done?" The game hadn't even started yet. Oh boy, we were in trouble! He did ok during the game. He went in several times and even kicked the ball a few times. Then he got knocked over and he was done! We signed up to bring treats that day and that's all he cared about after his very minor collision. He sat on my lap and played in the grass for most of the last quarter and then helped me pass out the treats. We'll see how he does next week! Bryan and I kept saying to each other, "This is surreal!" We couldn't believe we were at our own child's soccer game! It's been a long time coming and I am enjoying every minute of it! Here a few pictures I managed to get!

Very important to stretch!
Parker's friend Zach is on his team. He was very upset because all he wanted to do was play with the coach's whistle!

Grandma Smart's 92nd Birthday!

April 15th was Grandma Smart's birthday! Mom, the kids and I went to visit her. While we were there, Bryan called and said he was working in the area and he came to join us! She ate lunch in her room while we visited with her. She even had a piece of cake for dessert, so we all sang to her. We had a great time and Grandma couldn't believe that she is 92! When we were helping her out of her bed, we told her it was her birthday! She asked how old she was and when we told her she was 92 she threw herself back down on the bed in disbelief! It was really funny! I took pictures of her with everyone and we really had a wonderful visit. We stopped at Grandpa and Grandma's house on our way home and Parker had to go potty. When we came back out he headed right for the swing in the back yard. He was so upset when we saw that it wasn't there anymore. Mom said that swing had probably been there for 50 years! Grandma use to swing in it almost every day! It was really weird to look in the back yard and not see the swing. Aunt Eileen has it in her back yard now and I'm sure Grandma's great grandchildren will enjoy swinging on it for years to come.

It was very difficult getting three kids and a 92 yr old Grandma to all look at the camera at the same time!

Bryan and Grandma, Matson kept walking into the pictures!

This is a picture of me and Parker swinging in Grandma's swing when he was 10 months old. We're really going to miss that swing!

Bowling & Easter

A couple of weeks ago we made plans to get together with Parker's birth parents. His birth father was here on leave from Iraq, so we wanted to make sure we saw him while he was here. I misunderstood our plans, and thought they were going to meet us for bowling. Bryan, Parker and I ended up bowling one game and going out to lunch at Arctic Circle (one of Parker's favorites!) We also ran my car through the car wash, which is not Parker's favorite! He wanted to sit on Daddy's lap so he wouldn't be too scared! We did eventually meet up with his birth parents for dinner. Heather had her camera on her cruise, so I had to take my old crappy one. The pictures aren't great, but we were able to get a few that were ok.

Before we left the restaurant, Bryan took the pic

The day before Easter we headed up to Park City to spend the day with Bryan's family. Bryan and Parker went swimming and then after the second session of conference, we all headed to Mom and Dad's condo for an Easter egg hunt. Then while the boys went to the priestood session, we ate pizza and hung out at Mel and Tracy's condo. The next day we had my mom, brother and his family at our house. We enjoyed conference and Bryan and the kids also enjoyed building train tracks with the additional tracks the Easter Bunny brought. I didn't take a ton of pics, but here's what I have!
